Drama Boosters is a group of dedicated parents working to enhance the students’ theatre experience at SRHS that meets once a month on the third Tuesday. Our organization is dedicated to the idea that total immersion in a dramatic production is not only for future actors, but for any student interested in boosting self-confidence, developing public speaking skills and being part of an intensely creative project that will have a lasting positive impact for their entire life.

The Boosters administer the budget, help with set construction, costume design and tech projects for each of the two plays featured in the fall and spring of each year. In addition, we sell refreshments at the plays, which is a good source of income for the Boosters.

The Boosters also help in marketing, publicity and advertising for the plays to increase attendance and profitability of the plays to pay for scholarships, field trips to theatre events, including The Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon and the Lenaea festival in Sacramento. We also raise money for the department at the Tree Lot during Christmas. The Boosters also supports the Drama Club’s “Bulldog Theatre” Cabaret where students run the show doing improv, skits, comedy and whatever their creative minds come up with!

What's new with the Drama Department?

-- The 2007/2008 season was a huge success.  The Fall production of "To Kill a Mockingbird" was met with good attendance and a strong performance by the cast.  The Spring musical, “Footloose: The Musical” officially marked the grand re-opening of the Hayes Theatre, the oldest functioning theatre in Marin County.  On the campus of San Rafael High School, the grand old theatre has been lovingly restored and brought up to date with state of the art equipment, new seating, rigging and many other modern amenities, while keeping the spirit of the historical facility.  “Footloose: The Musical”,  which is based on the hit ‘80’s  movie that catapulted Kevin Bacon to stardom in an unforgettable performance as Ren McCormick - the new kid from Chicago who just couldn’t stop dancing- showcased the many talents of San Rafael High’s students in singing, dancing and acting.  The show played to record crowds and was very well received.
